Promo Studio HDRI
Promo Studio HDRI is a huge set of professional studio lights based around the lighting system I use for many of the promotional renders in my character products. I like to keep things simple, fast, and effective, and that is exactly what this lighting set is. You can have your character lit and ready to render within a few minutes or less!
Promo Studio HDRI is a set of 70 HDRI studio lights (35 Left And 35 Right). They are split into 3 sets.
Set 1 will give you a very soft, even light with very light shadow modeling.
Set 2 will also give you a very soft, even light but with a much more specular highlight projection.
Set 3 will create a lighting environment that is much more moody, with darker shadows to give very definitive modeling to your scenes and characters. Use these with a dark ‘Promo Cove’ background for very dramatic renders.
All of the HDRI’s have been individually color toned using the Photoshop Photo filter set. This will give you a great range of tones to choose from.
They can be used as-is with no additional lights or backgrounds. However, I have added a studio background cove with 6 colored textures similar to what would be used in a photographic studio environment. There are also 2 sets of photo-metric eye highlighter lights: 1 round (Dish) highlight and 1 rectangular (Soft Box) highlight. Although the HDRI’s will produce natural highlights in the eyes, sometimes you might want that extra pop of light, especially if your model is looking to the side or away from the natural light of the HDRI. Each set caters to the left, right, and front. You only need to use one of these in your scene at a time.
Other extras include 1 single rim light with a parented controller that allows you to easily position the rim light at any angle around any part of your character. This comes with 6 colors that will add a wonderful mood and vibrancy to your renders. The invisible controller loads in the same position as the Genesis 8 Female head but can easily be moved to any other position, depending on which base figure or figure height you are using. Just use the X, Y, and Z translation dials.
Additionally, there are utilities to brighten and darken the HDRI’s as not all skin textures and skin shaders are the same. Some are much brighter or darker than others or have warmer or cooler skin tones. The rim light can also be darkened with the included utilities if needed.
One last addition includes 3 tone mapping presets to eliminate or lessen the white highlight burn that is often seen in Iray renders.
